Mount Mercedario is a unique place for those looking to discover mountains. Mount Mercedario with its 6,770 meters is the highest peak in the province of San Juan. It is located in the Andes, precisely in the Mountain range of Ramada, a string of six peaks over six thousand meters and which is the highest peak Mercedario. Cerro Mercedario forms a natural terrace or balcony from which you can see the six most imposing peaks of the Arid Andes: Mercedario (6770 mts), Polish (6000 m), Mesa (6100 m), Alma Negra (6200 m) , The Ramada Norte (6300 m) and La Ramada Sur (6250 m). In much of our ascent to Mount Mercedario we find sightings of guanacos, maras hares, condors and many other cordilleranas species more easily. DAY 2 - MENDOZA – BARREAL – HORNILLAS – EL MOLLE
Transfer 4×4 from Mendoza to Barreal – Hornillas Control Gendarmery – El Molle abandoned mining post (2500 mts)
DAY 3 - EL MOLLE – LAGUNA BLANCA – GUANAQUITOS – PIEDRAS COLORADAS (3.880M)
Drive to Laguna Blanca (3100 mts) walk to Guanaquitos (3600mts) and Piedras Coloradas.
DAY 4 - PIEDRAS COLORADAS – CAMP 1 (5.200M)
Climb to Pirca de Indios (5200 mts) High camp through Cuesta Blanca (4600mts)
DAY 5 - CAMP 1 – CAMP LA OLLADA (5.700M)
Climb to La Ollada.
DAY 6 - LA OLLADA - SUMMIT MERCEDARIO – LA OLLADA
Climb from Camp to summit, it is possible for us!
DAY 7 - LA OLLADA – GUANAQUITOS
Down form La Ollada to Guanaquitos.
DAY 8 - EXTRA DAY
