Do I need a permit to enter Aconcagua Provincial Park?
Yes, a permit is mandatory to enter the Aconcagua Provincial Park, regardless of the activity type (trekking or expedition). There are different kinds of permits depending on the objective and duration of your stay. This is the pre sale prices for expeditions for the 2025/2026 season:

Where and how do I obtain the entry permit?
The permit is processed through the park’s service providers. We gather all the documentation and help you obtain the permit.
What documents do I need to enter the park?
Is necessary to present the permit, identification document (DNI or passport), and, if issued, medical insurance with coverage for high-mountain activities
Preparation and Equipment
What gear is necessary for an expedition or trek on Aconcagua?
The required gear depends on the activity. For short treks, we recommend technical outdoor clothing, trekking shoes, warm layers, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a backpack. For summit expeditions, technical gear is essential: double boots, crampons, ice axe, high-
altitude sleeping bag, tent, stove, helmet, and more. Andesport provides equipment rental and guidance for those who need it.
Where can I rent mountain equipment?
In Mendoza city, there are several specialized stores where you can rent all the necessary gear for trekking and expeditions. Andesport offers a full rental service with personalized advice — ideal for travelers from abroad or those who don’t have their own gear.
What level of physical fitness is recommended?
For 1 to 3-day treks, a basic to intermediate fitness level is recommended. For summit expeditions, excellent physical condition is essential, along with prior mountaineering experience and a solid training routine before the trip.
What type of insurance do I need to visit Aconcagua?
It is recommended to have medical insurance that includes emergency evacuation for any activity within the park. For expeditions, it’s mandatory to have insurance that covers mountain rescue and high-altitude medical care. Make sure your policy is valid in Argentina and includes adventure sports and covers evacuation and rescue at altitudes above 5,000 meters above sea level. We can help you issue insurance for 7, 14, or 30 days for Aconcagua.
Logistics in Aconcagua Park
Are there lodging services inside Aconcagua Park?
There are no hotels or traditional shelters inside the park. However, main camps like Confluencia and Plaza de Mulas offer full base camp services: sleeping tents, dining tents, bathrooms, medical assistance, and meals. Andesport provides these services, ensuring comfort in the mountains.
Where are the base camps located?
The main camps are Confluencia (3,390 m) and Plaza de Mulas (4,300 m), both located along the Normal Route to Aconcagua. Summit ascents are launched from Plaza de Mulas. Plaza Francia, on the South Glacier route, is also popular for trekking

How do I get to Aconcagua Park from Mendoza?
Aconcagua Park is located in the High Mountains of Mendoza, in the department of Las Heras, near the Puente del Inca. It’s not easy to get to, but we offer quality private transportation from Mendoza to Penitentes, our operations center, or directly to the park.
Safety and Assistance
Is there cell‑phone coverage in the park?
Most areas of Aconcagua Park have no cell phone coverage. Only at higher elevations you might find sporadic signal. Main camps use VHF radios and satellite communication for emergencies. Always share your itinerary and stay in contact with your support team.
What should I do in case of a medical emergency?
Medical stations are available at base camps like Confluencia and Plaza de Mulas, staffed with mountain medicine professionals. In case of symptoms or accidents, go to the nearest station. If needed, ground or helicopter evacuation is arranged. Rescue insurance is essential.
What risks are involved in an Aconcagua expedition?
Aconcagua expeditions involve high-altitude risks such as altitude sickness, hypothermia, snowstorms, falls, and severe fatigue. Proper acclimatization, the right gear, professional guides, and listening to your body are key to reducing risks. Safety is always Andesport’s top priority.
