What Is the Aconcagua Entry Permit?
To enter Aconcagua Provincial Park, the protected area in the Province of Mendoza where Mount Aconcagua is located, every visitor must obtain an official permit issued by the Government of Mendoza.
The Aconcagua permit is mandatory for all activities carried out inside the Park, including summit expeditions and trekking activities to the base camps. Even visitors planning a short trek or a one-day visit must obtain the corresponding entry permit before entering the protected area.
The permit is personal and non-transferable. Every climber or trekker must complete the permit process individually, regardless of whether they are traveling with an expedition operator or independently.
Permit processing times may vary throughout the season. During the busiest months, especially January and February, waiting until the last minute can cause delays. For this reason, we recommend arranging your Aconcagua permit in advance and having all the required documentation ready before traveling to Mendoza.

There are different types of Aconcagua permits depending on the activity, route and length of stay inside Aconcagua Provincial Park.

Important: Aconcagua permit prices are established by the Government of Mendoza and are updated every season. Official 2025–2026 prices must be confirmed before publication and this information should be reviewed every season.
When Do Aconcagua Permits Become Available and How Do You Apply?
Permits for the main Aconcagua season, which generally runs from December through February, usually become available between August and September of the previous year.
The permit process is completed through the official system of the Government of Mendoza. Climbers and trekkers must select the appropriate permit according to their planned activity and itinerary, provide the required personal information and documentation, and complete payment before entering Aconcagua Provincial Park.

Before Applying for an Aconcagua Permit
Before applying for an Aconcagua permit, make sure you have completed the following requirements:

Valid Passport
International visitors must provide a valid passport. An Argentine national identity document is not accepted as identification for foreign visitors.

High-Altitude Rescue Insurance
High-altitude rescue insurance with coverage on Aconcagua above 5,600 meters is mandatory. Park authorities verify the insurance policy when climbers enter the Park.

Risk Acceptance Form
Every climber or trekker must complete the required risk acceptance documentation.

Health Form
A health form must be completed as part of the permit and expedition requirements.

Permit Payment
The corresponding permit fee must be paid before entering Aconcagua Provincial Park.
Important: High-altitude rescue insurance is mandatory under Park regulations and must be purchased separately from the Aconcagua entry permit. Andesport can advise you about insurance companies that provide the required coverage for expeditions in Argentina.
