ANDESPORT - SINCE 1987 -

“Our passion for the mountains”

For over 30 years, we’ve explored the snowy peaks, rocky slopes, and winding trails of Aconcagua. Our love for the mountains drives us to offer the best:

  1. Experience and Tradition: We’re part of Aconcagua’s history. Before the Provincial Park even existed, we were there, mapping routes and sharing the beauty of this Andean colossus. Our legacy spans generations of mountaineers and climbers.
  2. Diverse and Youthful Team: We blend the wisdom of experience with youthful energy. Our team includes seasoned veterans who know every nook and cranny, along with passionate young members who bring fresh ideas and perspectives. Together, we create a unique synergy to provide exceptional service.
  3. Comprehensive Services: We don’t just organize expeditions; we create experiences. From the moment you set foot in base camp until you reach the summit, we’re by your side. Our mules transport your gear, our guides provide direction, and our logistics ensure everything is in place. Need high-quality equipment? Looking for a cozy refuge? We’ve got you covered.
  4. Aconcagua’s Normal Route: Our specialty is the normal route. We know every step, every refuge, and every challenge. We accompany you from Plaza de Mulas to the summit, taking care of every detail so you can focus on the experience.
  5. David Vela: Our Founder and Mentor: David Vela is the heart and soul of Andesport. His connection to the mountains began at an early age when his father was part of the First Aconcagua Expedition in 1938. Since then, David has dedicated his life to exploring and sharing his passion for nature. Additionally, his son Tomás Vela is also an active part of our company, continuing the family tradition for generations.
  6. Skiing and Diving: At age 9, David was already linked to the mountains through skiing. He traveled to France to hone his skills in La Plagne and became a ski instructor. But his adventurous spirit didn’t stop there. David also became the first star diver, exploring the ocean’s depths.
  7. Assistance on Aconcagua: Since 1987, David has assisted climbers on Aconcagua and Tupungato Mercedario. His experience and knowledge are invaluable to our company and clients. He knows every crevice, climate change, and mountain challenge.
  8. David as a Mentor: David isn’t just an experienced guide; he’s also a mentor. His love for adventure and respect for nature are contagious. When you join Andesport, you’re following in the footsteps of someone whose life is intertwined with breathtaking summits and landscapes.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Mount Aconcagua is in Mendoza Province, Argentina, inside Aconcagua Provincial Park, in the heart of the Andes Mountains.

Aconcagua is 6,962 meters (22,841 feet) above sea level. It is the highest mountain in the Americas.

The prime season is the Southern‑Hemisphere summer, from December to February.

Guides are optional but advisable for short treks; for summit expeditions they are strongly recommended—and in certain cases required—for added safety and logistics, especially for foreign climbers.

No experience is needed for small trekking. However, for high-altitude ascents, previous experience and good physical condition are recommended.

You can do 1, 3, or 7-day treks, summit expeditions, landscape photography, flora and fauna observation, and mountain activities.

Permits and Requirements

Yes, a permit is mandatory to enter the Aconcagua Provincial Park, regardless of the activity type (trekking or expedition). There are different kinds of permits depending on the objective and duration of your stay. This is the pre sale prices for expeditions for the 2025/2026 season:
From 15th July to 29th August of 2025.

Normal Route
– Latin: USD 760
– International: USD 980
Vacas Valley & Polish Glacier
– Latin: USD 940
– International: USD 1200
Prices per person in USD

The permit is processed through the park’s service providers. We gather all the documentation and help you obtain the permit.

Is necessary to present the permit, identification document (DNI or passport), and, if issued, medical insurance with coverage for high-mountain activities

Preparation and Equipment

The required gear depends on the activity. For short treks, we recommend technical outdoor clothing, trekking shoes, warm layers, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a backpack. For summit expeditions, technical gear is essential: double boots, crampons, ice axe, high-
altitude sleeping bag, tent, stove, helmet, and more. Andesport provides equipment rental and guidance for those who need it.

In Mendoza city, there are several specialized stores where you can rent all the necessary gear for trekking and expeditions. Andesport offers a full rental service with personalized advice — ideal for travelers from abroad or those who don’t have their own gear.

For 1 to 3-day treks, a basic to intermediate fitness level is recommended. For summit expeditions, excellent physical condition is essential, along with prior mountaineering experience and a solid training routine before the trip.

It is recommended to have medical insurance that includes emergency evacuation for any activity within the park. For expeditions, it’s mandatory to have insurance that covers mountain rescue and high-altitude medical care. Make sure your policy is valid in Argentina and includes adventure sports and covers evacuation and rescue at altitudes above 5,000 meters above sea level. We can help you issue insurance for 7, 14, or 30 days for Aconcagua.

Logistics in Aconcagua Park

There are no hotels or traditional shelters inside the park. However, main camps like Confluencia and Plaza de Mulas offer full base camp services: sleeping tents, dining tents, bathrooms, medical assistance, and meals. Andesport provides these services, ensuring comfort in the mountains.

The main camps are Confluencia (3,390 m) and Plaza de Mulas (4,300 m), both located along the Normal Route to Aconcagua. Summit ascents are launched from Plaza de Mulas. Plaza Francia, on the South Glacier route, is also popular for trekking

Andesport offers full services for climbers: expedition logistics, certified guides, equipment rental, transportation, base camp support, and assistance with permits and insurance. They also specialize in 1, 3, and 7-day treks — perfect for those who want to experience Aconcagua without going to the summit. We also offer guided expeditions on the Normal Route, which you can join if you don’t have anyone to come with. And if you’re already experienced, we offer the basic logistics to help you conquer Aconcagua

Aconcagua Park is located in the High Mountains of Mendoza, in the department of Las Heras, near the Puente del Inca. It’s not easy to get to, but we offer quality private transportation from Mendoza to Penitentes, our operations center, or directly to the park.

Safety and Assistance

Most areas of Aconcagua Park have no cell phone coverage. Only at higher elevations you might find sporadic signal. Main camps use VHF radios and satellite communication for emergencies. Always share your itinerary and stay in contact with your support team.

Medical stations are available at base camps like Confluencia and Plaza de Mulas, staffed with mountain medicine professionals. In case of symptoms or accidents, go to the nearest station. If needed, ground or helicopter evacuation is arranged. Rescue insurance is essential.

Aconcagua expeditions involve high-altitude risks such as altitude sickness, hypothermia, snowstorms, falls, and severe fatigue. Proper acclimatization, the right gear, professional guides, and listening to your body are key to reducing risks. Safety is always Andesport’s top priority.
